Chiropractic is a natural health profession that recognises that the body has an inherent ability to heal itself and resist disease; the body always strives for health. This inborn intelligence is coordinated through the nervous system which governs every single organ, tissue and cell of your body. Yes, all 90 trillion of them! From your heart tissue, to the cells in your stomach and also the muscles that stabilise your spine. The nervous system is the master control system of your body.
The nervous system is made of up of the brain, the spinal cord and the nerves. The skull protects the delicate tissues of the brain and the 24 movable vertebrae of the spine protects the spinal cord and the intricate communication pathways of the nerves that send and receive messages to and from the brain and the body. When the spine loses its normal motion and position the nerves do not behave normally effecting the way we move and load our spines and body. This is called ‘vertebral subluxation’. If subluxations are left too long they can result in pain and symptoms and reduce your health and well-being. Static on a telephone line can be very frustrating, but if the proper messages cannot get through to your brain properly, it gets serious, painfully serious! Your local Chiropractor at Belmont Chiropractic are minimum 5 year university educated and expertly trained to locate and correct subluxations to give your body its God given right for optimum health and performance.
The Chiropractic philosophy respects and understands that only the intelligence that made the body, heals the body, if there is no interference to the expression of this intelligence. Chiropractors find and correct the cause of your problem naturally instead of using drugs to cover up what’s going on; like taking out the batteries of a smoke alarm when there is a fire because you don’t like the noise while the fire keeps on burning. Once your problem has been corrected the communication of the nervous system has been turned up, improving the health and wellness of your spine and body.
Subluxations are caused by three factors:
Physical Stress: For example poor posture, repetitive strain injuries and lack of exercise all put massive amounts of mechanical stress on our spine and nervous system resulting in subluxations.
Toxic Stress: Alcohol, tobacco, medications, pesticides and food preservatives all upset the delicate chemical balance within our bodies and are detrimental to our health.
Emotional Stress: Every thought we have has a physiological response. You think negative then you feel down, you think positive then you feel great. In fact the way we think can affect many organs and systems like breathing, heart rate, digestion, muscle tone and so on.
